Laguna Beach Art Galleries
Laguna Beach art galleries are one of the top attractions
when visiting this Southern California seaside village. In
fact, Laguna Beach has been known as an artist's haven since
the 1920's.
Just a walk downtown or north and south of Main Beach in
Laguna a person can walk by scores of art galleries in a few
hours time. The fact is that there are too many Laguna Beach
art galleries to mention in depth, so I've decided to give
a review of my top picks based on the years I've lived in
this town, including my personal preferences (and biases).
To give you an example of my biases I just loathe Majolica
pottery. I think it's loud, gaudy and downright FUGLY. There
is a Majolica store right downtown across from Main Beach
that has been there for years. The hair rises up on the back
of my neck every time I walk by it.
Now, to get to the good stuff. What I do like are the Laguna
Beach Wyland art galleries. There is one downtown and one
not too far away on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). There used
to be another one on Laguna Canyon Road but it closed a few
years back. If you aren't familiar with Wyland's sea life
artwork, then stop in one of his galleries and check it out.
There are two other obvious places in Laguna Beach to check
out artwork besides the commercial galleries. The first if
the Laguna Art Museum, which is a non-profit organization
and has frequent, new exhibits.
The second, Laguna Beach art gallery worth mentioning is
the Laguna College of Art and Design located on Laguna Canyon
Road. Driving by, a person can see some of the sculptures
outside the college.
Downtown, my three favorite galleries are Wyland, as I've
already stated, the Miranda Galleries and the Village Gallery.
The Pacific Gallery is also a worthwhile visit.

South of Main Beach, I recommend the
Cove Gallery, the Mandarin Fine Art Gallery and the
Vladimir Sokolov Gallery. Of course there are many more
Laguna Beach art galleries to check out downtown and
north and south of Main Beach.

North of Main Beach I recommend Marion Meyer Contemporary
Art, Martin Roberts Fine Art and Rohrer Fine Art. Once again,
these are my personal favorites, so you may find yours from
those listed below.
Here is a list of the Laguna Beach Art Galleries.

No matter what style of artwork you choose, or whether you
have eclectic tastes like I do, you will be able to find many
Laguna Beach art galleries to your tastes. All year around
there is the First Thursday Art Walk (the first Thursday of
each month) where galleries stay open and offer complimentary
drinks and Hors d'uvres. There is even a shuttle to
escort you around to the different Laguna Beach art galleries.
