Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair
Right next door to the Laguna
Beach Sawdust Festival is another event called the Laguna
Beach Art-A-Fair. The Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair runs from late
June to late August every year. What's cool about the Art
A Fair is that it is a bit more upscale than the Sawdust Festival,
so you get the see the work of different types of artists
here.
What makes for a fun, art loving day, is the start off at
the Sawdust Festival, then hit the Art A Fair, then go across
the street (Laguna Canyon Road) and take in the Festival of
the Arts, another well-reknowned art show.
Once you do this it's a wonderful experience to top the evening
off with tickets to Pageants of the Masters. But, now back
to the Art A Fair.
The Art A Fair shows off the work of 125 well known fine
artists from around the world including many local artists
as well. I had talked to one artist who makes her major income
of the year at the Art A Fair selling metal sculptures. The
rest of the time she works at Trader Joe's part time just
north of town on PCH and works on her art part time.
At the Laguna Beach Art A Fair, you'll find artists working
in the following mediums: oil paintings, photography, digital
art, watercolors, acrylics, drawings, mixed media, ceramics,
glass sculpture, jewelry, and wood.
According to their website, "he Art-A-Fair Foundation
is a non-profit organization working directly with the Art-A-Fair
Festival of Laguna Beach, CA to promote the arts. With the
hard work of our members and the generous support of the community,
the Art-A-Fair Foundation provides art education and sponsorships
to Southern California, through programs such as donation
of professional quality art supplies to high school art classes
and student artist sponsorships, allowing high school artists
to be guest exhibitors at the Art-A-Fair Festival."
Anyway, the Art-A-Fair changes somewhat every year, so it's
worth it to check it out every year if you're able. There
are bands playing in a relaxed atmosphere where one can browse
at one's leisure and talk to the artists about their creations.
For those in Laguna Beach in the middle of summer, the Art-A-Fair
is an affair worth taking in.
